Peaches Just made a Fu@$ing Dance Record!

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The teaches of Peaches always leave me feeling warm, fuzzy, and a little weird. But in a good way. I had the opportunity to chat with the electronic star recently about her latest album I Feel Cream, living in Berlin, and how one of Canada’s most original, talented and successful performance artists is still chasing the mainstream - actually, it’s chasing her.

I caught her packed show at The Phoenix and can’t remember the last time I saw an actual ROCK SHOW. It kicked my ASS. Complete with a full band, lasers, projections and scantily clad dancers mopping the stage up with long exaggerated blond wigs. It was easy to remember why she’s become such a musical phenomenon and also why someone like Kanye would would be the first to blog about her new videos.

Check out us talking about what defines SEXY (watch now!), how her music and confidence changes as she continues to grow (guess how old the Peach is?), her most strange celebrity photo op EVER (Mariah and the sweater song?) and how years of challenging steotypes and pushing all the right buttons has earned her a pioneering position in music.

Enjoy!

Buck Rogers Against The Odds

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

I recently had the opportunity to interview Buck Angel who is is an American adult film actor and may also be the “first and only” female-to-male transsexual porn star.

I was drawn to Buck and his story because like him, I believe in the importance of diversity and also share a hatred for discrimination and a need to protect the right to truly be yourself - in whatever colour, creed or sexuality that may be.

Buck Angel was born a beautiful woman but didn’t identify with his given body or the perceptions and assumptions that came along with it. Self acceptance is something most of us struggle with in one way or another, and in Buck’s case he was actually able to find the strength and courage to make the difficult decisions necessary to live a life that was real to him.

I am always in awe of people who are fearless against the paralyzing opposition we allow ourselves to be put up against and I admire anyone who can search for their truth. No matter how unique, unnaccepted or potenitally threatening that truth can be to the rest of us.

Watch a clip from the interview here.
